DESCRIPTION:The CU Jaycees will be hosting an ice cream social from 5:30 to 6:30 this Thursday at Baskin-Robbins/ Dunkin’ (Neil and Green St.\, Champaign). \nLet’s celebrate the warmer weather! Prospective members will receive free ice cream paid by the chapter. \nThe CU Jaycees allows individuals to develop leadership through community service. Jaycees projects fall into four areas of opportunity: individual development\, community service\, international programs\, and business development. DESCRIPTION:Join the CU Jaycees in celebrating three outstanding young people from our community who excel in their chosen fields\, endeavors and show great commitment to our community at the Champaign Urbana Jaycees Top Outstanding Young Person (TOYP) Reception at Collective Pour at 6 PM on Thursday\, April 14th. Every year the Illinois Jaycees recognize individuals under the age of 40\, who exemplify the best attributes of young people from across Illinois. Recipients come from many backgrounds\, but each has made an impact on their fellow man and our community. \nThe CU Jaycees are proud to have two recipients as part of the 2022 class of TOYP\, Xander Hazel and Michael McDonald Jr. We also are excited to be able to celebrate our 2021 class of TOYP Elizabeth Sullard. All three glowing examples from our own community are recognized for their achievements and their commitment to our community. \n\nXander Hazel. 2022 Honoree\nBusiness\, economic\, and/or entrepreneurial accomplishment.\nHazel is executive director of Champaign Center Partnership\, a nonprofit membership-based organization within Champaign which fosters a vibrant\, inviting\, and active core in Champaign’s Downtown\, Midtown\, and Campustown by strengthening business and building community.\n\n\nMichael McDonald Jr. 2022 Honoree\nBusiness\, economic\, and/or entrepreneurial accomplishment.\nMcDonald is owner of Wood N’ Hog Barbecue restaurant with locations in Champaign and Urbana.\n\n\nElizabeth Sullard. 2021 Honoree\nHumanitarian and/or voluntary leadership.\nSullard is an active citizen in her community. She serves on the Committee on aging; as a board member of the Young Professionals of Champaign Urbana and is founder of Working Moms in Chambana.\n\nThe CU Jaycees invite you to join us for our informal reception/social honoring our recipients at Collective Pour\, 340 N Neil St #101 in Downtown Champaign on Thursday\, April 14th from 6-8pm. The informal reception will be a chance to congratulate the award recipients\, learn more about the CU Jaycees\, and network with others in the community. DESCRIPTION:Champaign Urbana Jaycees present the 2nd Annual Murder on the Menu: Murder Mystery Dinner on Saturday\, October 2 at El Toro at the Fields (3401 Fields S Dr\, Champaign\, IL 61822). \nJoin us for an audience interactive dinning event with CUTC’s Seven Corpse Dinner Murder Mystery Theatre Troupe. \nDouble-Oh Dead – Super-spy Jon Finch is celebrating the completion of his one-thousandth mission. The Chief will also announce that this is (surprise!) a retirement party for Finch. There is a little-known rule in the Super spy union agreement that says that once field agents have completed one thousand missions\, they are eligible to receive their pension\, regardless of their age. The other super spies in attendance include a temptress\, a hacker\, and the head of R&D. How will Finch feel about his retirement? How will the other members of the Organization react? \nDinner is a Buffet Dinner provided by El Toro. Buffet featuring: Fajita Bar Buffet. Vegan entrée available upon request (please indicate when purchasing ticket). One drink ticket included for select alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. \nCash bar is available for additional drinks. \nTickets for the dinner are $50 per person. Opening remarks at 7:30 with dinner service starting at 7:45. \nAll COVID-19 guidelines at the time of the event from CUPHD\, IL. Department of Health\, and CDC will be followed including the use of face coverings. Full refunds will be issued should current health conditions force the cancellation of the event. \nProceeds from Murder on the Menu will benefit the Law Enforcement Torch Run and support other community projects put on by the Champaign Urbana Jaycees. \nThe Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is the single largest year-round fundraising movement benefiting Special Olympics Illinois (SOILL). Every year\, law enforcement personnel across the state dedicate countless hours to help raise funds and awareness for the 23\,100 traditional athletes and more than 13\,000 Young Athletes participating across Illinois. Traditionally the week leading up to Summer Games\, law enforcement personnel across the state would carry the Flame of Hope® nearly 1\,500 miles to its final destination – the Opening Ceremony of Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games. \nThe Champaign Urbana Jaycees is a social\, leadership development\, and community service organization for individuals between the ages of 18 to 40.
